Ornge, Ontario’s provider of air ambulance and related services, is pleased to announce it is changing the costs of the aero-medical training program for paramedics to make it more accessible to individuals interested in pursuing employment in the air ambulance system.
Effective September 1st, 2012, Ornge will reduce the cost of the online program to $250 from $750. The cost for this program is now consistent with other existing aero-medical programs across Canada.
“This fee reduction is an important step to ensuring our staffing needs continue to be met today and in the future,” said Ron McKerlie, Interim President and CEO of Ornge. “By making this program more affordable, it is our hope that more paramedics considering careers in air ambulance will pursue this highly specialized and rewarding field.”
Designed for those who are interested in employment in the Air Medical Transport sector, the
Aeromedical Program is a distance education course that is offered on a continuous basis. The selfstudy package allows students up to three months to learn and integrate new knowledge prior to writing an on-line examination. Successful graduates are qualified to apply to write the Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) aeromedical certification examination. Enrollment is always open to new applicants.
